Look-aheads without the spreadsheet tax
Weekly look-aheads fail when they live outside the master schedule. Here is how teams are collapsing the gap.

Every superintendent knows the ritual: export a Gantt, paste into a grid, color the next three weeks, email a PDF. By Wednesday the PDF is fiction.
Teams cutting that tax keep constraints in one system. Materials reservations, plant bookings, and shop capacity show up as blockers on the same board the field uses. The look-ahead becomes a filtered view of the plan — not a second plan.
Consultants and owners benefit too. Shared look-aheads with photo evidence reduce the Monday status meeting that exists only to reconcile competing truths.
If your look-ahead still starts in Excel, start by connecting procurement lead times and fleet availability to the schedule. The rest of the ritual tends to dissolve once the blockers are visible.
